The final conference of the EUROSHIP project titled “Closing gaps in social protection against poverty in Europe” took place on 8 June at the European Parliament in Brussels. MEP Sara Matthieu from the Green Party hosted the event. Based on the findings of the project, the conference presented an up-to-date picture of poverty and social exclusion in Europe and summed up its relevance for policymakers. It provided an overview of statistical indicators and unique qualitative information about the many consequences of poverty and social exclusion in the lives of individuals from different European welfare and industrial relations systems. Our colleagues, András Gábos and Zsófia Tomka presented Tárki’s selected contributions to EUROSHIP on two topics: developments in poverty and inequality across Europe between 2005 and 2021, as well as on developments in minimum income benefit levels in Europe.
