In terms of its research topics, the Household Monitor is the continuation of the Hungarian Household Panel, without its longitudinal character. Its purpose is the quick assessment of the changes in the stratification of society and in social inequalities. The survey is primarily focussed on issues concerning the labour market and incomes, consumer attitudes, savings, economic expectations and economic behaviour, as well as changing social relations are also included among the subjects of the survey. The survey is supported by several governmental and state institutions, as well as by private institutions through research commissions.
Coping with macro shocks: coping strategies of households during the crisis in Hungary
The research project titled 'Coping with macro shocks: success and failure of household adjustment during the crisis in Hungary' has ended. The aim of the research was to assess how Hungarian households coped with the recent economic crisis, in terms of the households' labor supply, consumption, savings and debts, and human capital investments.The research was founded by: National Research, Develeopment and Innovation Office

- TARKI Household Monitor 2015 "A" sample: the 'usual' Household Monitor survey about employment, consumption, income, savings and indebtedness, supplemented by a retrospecitve 'crisis management' block. The field work lasted from October 9th, 2015 until January 3rd, 2016. The sample includes 2772 household interviews and 5053 individual interviews.
- TARKI Household Monitor 2016 "B" sample: the detailed 'crisis management' block about the shocks households suffered and the responses they had, together with the repetition of the 'social attitudes block' about social cohesion from the Household Monitor of 2007. The field work lasted from March 17th, 2016 until March 29th, 2016. The sample includes 1007 interviews.
